Are you interested in having one of our officers speak at your business, school, or civic club? We can speak at your organization on topics about crime prevention, drugs, and other issues. Be sure to check this page regularly as we will be updating it as we introduce new programs for the community.
D.A.R.E. The most widely known drug education program, D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) will be introduced for the first time locally to students in the Batesville School District during the 2006-2007 school year. D.A.R.E. teaches kids about the dangers of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, how to resist peer pressure, and how to get involved in positive, healthy, and drug-free activities. Neighborhood Watch One of the best deterrents to crime are neighbors looking out for each other. We can help you and your neighbors organize a neighborhood watch. A neighborhood watch is one of the best crime prevention programs in the country.
Project ChildSafe The Independence County
Sheriff's Department, through a partnership with Project ChildSafe, is providing
free gun safety kits to local residents. The kits are being distributed at the
Independence County Sheriff’s Department at 1750 Myers Ave. weekdays (excluding
holidays) from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Funded by a U.S. Department of Justice grant,
Project ChildSafe is a program developed by the National Shooting Sports
Foundation. The locks fit on most types of firearms. The goal of the program is
to prevent a child from accessing a firearm.
